Colour Scheme by Charlotte McKirdy

My challenge was to create two different looks for a back-split 1960's house, using the same split complementary colour scheme of blue, orange/red, and orange/yellow.
The scheme above is for a young couple. I wanted to make it quite modern, but also reference the 1960's origin of the building using wood paneling. Inspired by Robin's question of "what would you do if the client had blue carpet?" I have incorporated the blue into the floor plane, though ideally this would be more of a polished concrete surface. This would mean the blue would reflect onto the white walls, but would not be as dark as if it were on the wall planes. Red/orange is used minimally in fixtures and yellow/orange in the use of blond wood.
This scheme is meant for an older couple who want something a bit more sedate. Using wood again, this time in the darker red/orange hue, with the blue being a more smokey less saturated teal on the walls. Light orange/yellow would be used for soft furnishings with other white neutrals to keep the space bright.
